Great Sandwich (Park Bench Deli)

It's been 6 years since we moved to Singapore. It doesn't feel that long.

When we came, there weren't many nice cafe. I remember how terrible sandwiches were even when I had them in cafes that people told me were good. I must say this happened a lot in Hong Kong and England, too, and it always shocked me how sandwiches can be so bad. In Japan, even those in "convenient stores" are quite tasty. The reason why it's not good is sometimes inferior ingredients (like bad quality ham/salami/meat) but often just not enough seasoning. However, in the last couple of years, there have been many new cafe that serve good sandwiches.

I've seen this new sandwich deli called "Park Bench Deli" in a few local food blogs and tried it today. Unfortunately there is very small space for eat-in and you have to eat it standing up so I had it at home. I chose "Fried Chicken Sandwich" that all the postings I saw said was very good and it really was. The chicken is nice and crispy outside, moist and tender inside. The coleslaw was nice and fresh and you can smell some herbs and it was really tasty.

It was S$14, which seems quite price for a sandwich, specially when I think what you would get in Japan - you would get a very nice set lunch at that price - but I think it's a standard price here in nice cafe. This isn't a cafe but just a mostly take out place so maybe it is a bit price but I don't mind it because it was so good.

I would be happier if I could get half a portion at lower price because it was too much for me and it would be great if they had more room for eat-in but it's good that such good sandwiches are available in Singapore now.
